I ordered a custom hoodie and I really like it. It's kept me warm on a few hikes thus far and I'll be using it for my PCT through hike this summer. I especially appreciate the roomy neck design. I ordered a size Medium and it fits true to size.
Crazy comfortable and well made. I have two Sam bob hoodies and expect to buy more soon.
I now have a Senchi and a Sambob, both quality alpha hoodies. My favorite is the Sambob. It fits better than the same size Senchi and I much prefer the draw string hood. Great product!

About Sambob's workmanship: the custom hoodie is well-constructed and came out exactly as ordered. Every measurement was correct, and it fits exactly how I wanted. I had a special request, due to some weird sensory issues I have, I asked for flat seams instead of the elastic seams, and the team was happy to accommodate — and they turned out great! The only suggestion I'd offer is to emphatically encourage Team Sambob to offer thumbholes to their garments in the future.
About the Alpha Direct: of course, it works exactly as advertised. Meaning, it's great at what it excels at (warmth with exceptional ventilation during exercise), yet you have to be prepared to work around it's deficiencies (snag prone so don't go bushwacking in it, remember to bring a wind breaker, etc). I wore it during a cold, blustery 5k along Lake Michigan in Chicago, and I've worn it on a number of hikes and backpacking trips already. Paired with a light windbreaker shell, it added great warmth to cold nights and mornings around camp. By itself, it was the perfect layer of added warmth when I was running the 5K. When hiking longer distances it added warmth without retaining sweat, in conditions where I would've stopped to remove a traditional fleece or grid fleece I could keep on going much longer with the Alpha Direct because it didn't cause me to sweat through my baselayers. Cool and cold-weather activities are all about moisture management, and this excels at allowing sweat to leave without sacrificing warmth.
