The SAMBOB Octa hoodies are made from a unique ultralight fabric made by Teijin (based in Japan). With a brushed fleece interior face and a flat mesh exterior face, this fabric stands to rival Polartec Alpha in its warmth to weight ratio, while also proving to be more durable against snags and tears.
This fabric is semi-transparent and extremely non-wind resistant, but acts as a perfect active layer fabric.
Weight: Wide Medium weighs 4.6oz, Narrow Medium weighs 4.2oz

This is a great addition to my kit. I had the opportunity to wear it on a cold wet day - used it as a mid layer - and was perfectly warm without overheating. I was birding, which involves a lot of short walks then standing still for a while to hear and see the birds. I didn't get too hot while walking and stayed warm when observing - perfect! I also like that the octa fabric is less prone to snagging than alpha. I feel like I could take off my outer layer if needed and not run the risk of snagging my top on a random bush.

I bought my Octa at AT Trail Days in May. Months into usage, I am impressed with it's function and love the colors. It weighs nothing and packs down so small.
